Business Planning & Strategy

Strategic Business Planning

We recommend that the strategic business plan be seen as the necessary and most essential first step in enterprise development process. The focus should be on the enterprise improvement process rather than the strategic business plan document itself. While the document will be important in maintaining the process it is the process that brings about the benefits not the document itself.

A document that is not acted upon wastes everybody’s time and money!

Equally it is core to the process that the outcomes are owned, to a maximum degree, within the organization as this greatly increases the likelihood that the strategies and actions will be acted upon.

Our methodology has been developed with these factors in mind and we see that our role will be one of facilitation – We are not here to tell you what the business should do but to give you a process by which you can determine this direction.

To us this is a most important statement to understand.

A true facilitation process is more efficient and effective in bringing about enterprise improvement, we will provide the guidance but you will develop the plan

  • Now

Where are we now? What is happening internally? What is happening externally? What therefore are the issues we need to address as a business?

  • Where

Where does the business want to position itself for the future? Where does it need to be?

  • How

What is the best way of filling the gap between the now and the where? How do we achieve the outcomes specified in the where?

While this, at first glance, seems fairly basic the process of change and improvement takes time and there are very specific stages in the

process as can be seen by reference to the procedure area of this proposal.

The key stages in the process are:

The strategic business planning workshop; workshop is designed for business owners, managers and key stakeholders to develop a clear understanding of where a business is heading and how it will get there. It consists of a series of meeting which will provide guidance in the key steps of strategic business planning and covers areas such as:-

Creating The Vision of Your Business
    Magic Wand (The “Where”)
    Creating Your Sustainable Competitive Advantage

Upon completion of the workshop, you will have all of the tools necessary to develop your own one page business plan.

Using the skills from this workshop, your business plan will always represent an up-to- date version of the key factors that impact on your business.

The workshops will be conducted face to face, which uses both generic and business specific examples. Much of the material generated can be utilized immediately in your own strategic business plan.
