FAQ

I work in Melbourne. Is it possible to see you after hours?
Of course. We are open Monday to Thursday until 9:00pm and Saturday until 4:00pm. All after hours consultations must have an appointment. We will remind you via SMS of these appointments.

Do you charge for phone calls? I loathe calling my accountant in fear that I will receive a bill each time.
Generally no. If you are an existing client, we factor miscellaneous phone calls into your cost.

How much will it cost to complete my tax return?
It depends on the complexity required and the degree of expertise. We will examine your records and provide you with a fixed price quotation before we commence work. We will be held to that price unless there are changes to the scope of the work or we identify that additional unexpected work is required. In these cases, we will contact you with an updated quote. No work will begin until you have accepted the quote.

Can I have my fee deducted from my refund?
Yes. We offer a fee from refund service via an external 3rd party; Fee From Refund. The cost of this service is $35 per return. The balance of your refund (minus our cost) will be directly deposited into your bank account.

What information should i bring with me?
You should bring in all PAYG Summaries (Group Certificates), bank statements, dividend statement and details of other income for the interview. New clients should bring a copy of last years tax return if possible; otherwise a notice of assessment will suffice.

Each year, I deal with someone different. Will that be the same with you?
At Certun Accountants, we recognize that client relationships are paramount. We will endeavour to allocate the most appropriate consultant to you according to your circumstances.  All of our consultants are qualified accountants with a commitment to ongoing professional development.
We will seek to allocate you with the same accountant each time you seek an appointment with us.

Last year, it took my accountant 6 months to complete my tax return? How long will you take?
We will not commence a job until we are satisfied that we have all of the necessary information. Once we have that information, we work to a KPI of 28 days to complete the job. We are continually reviewing our processes and hope that we can halve this to 14 days in the near future.
